DTBird & DTBat Events

DTBird joins DOE and NREL workshop on eagle detection technologies

DTBird® will participate in the Eagle Detection & Deterrent Technologies Research Gaps and Solutions Workshop, a technical event focused on improving solutions to reduce eagle collision risk at wind farms.

The workshop takes place in Denver, Colorado (USA), on December 8–9, 2015, bringing together researchers, technology developers, government agencies and wind energy stakeholders.

Workshop organized by DOE and NREL

The event is hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Wind and Water Power Technologies Office (known today as the Wind Energy Technologies Office, WETO) in collaboration with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), currently known today as the National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR).

The workshop explores current challenges, research needs and technological solutions related to eagle detection and deterrence at wind energy facilities.

Advancing wildlife protection technologies

DTBird participates in the discussions as a developer of automated bird detection and collision risk reduction technologies for wind farms.

The event provides an opportunity to exchange knowledge with experts working on wildlife protection, environmental monitoring and renewable energy development.

Supporting innovation in wind energy

Workshops such as this contribute to the development of new technologies that help improve the coexistence between wind energy generation and wildlife conservation.

DTBird remains committed to supporting research initiatives and industry collaborations aimed at reducing bird collision risk at wind farms worldwide.

This workshop anticipated later U.S. Department of Energy initiatives focused on evaluating eagle detection and deterrence technologies for wind farms, including research projects involving DTBird systems.
