8th Anniversary since first DTBird installation at a Wind Turbine
DTBird celebrates eight years since the installation of its first bird collision avoidance system on a wind turbine.
Although the DTBird research program began in 2005, the first DTBird unit was installed in March 2009 on a wind turbine operated by Sammca Group in Spain.
Eight years of bird collision avoidance innovation
Since its first installation, DTBird has undergone continuous evaluation, research and technological improvement.
The system has benefited from contributions by scientists, computer engineers, ornithologists and veterinarians from different countries, helping improve bird detection, collision risk reduction and environmental monitoring capabilities.
Expansion of DTBird systems worldwide
At the time of publication, more than 90 DTBird and DTBat units had been installed across 11 countries.
The growing number of installations reflects increasing interest in biodiversity protection technologies for wind farms and renewable energy projects.
Continuous development and improvement
Over the years, DTBird has evolved through ongoing research, field evaluations and operational experience gathered from multiple wind energy projects.
This continuous development process has contributed to improving bird monitoring, collision avoidance and environmental compliance solutions for wind farm operators.
