International Conference VCF Sardinia 2023

DTBird participates in VCF’s upcoming International Conference!

DTBird participates in VCF International Conference, where CEO Agustín Riopérez has been invited as a Guest Speaker. He will present the DTBird system and its applications for monitoring and reducing collision risk in large raptors. The event is organised by the Vulture Conservation Foundation (VCF) within the framework of the LIFE Safe for Vultures project, co-financed by the EU’s LIFE Programme.

The International Conference “Best practices for mitigating electrocution and collision risk”  will take place from May 23rd to 24th at the Hotel Regina Margherita in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy. It will gather experts from environmental authorities, scientific institutions, wildlife rehabilitation centres and technology providers involved in bird protection.

During his presentation, Agustín Riopérez will cover general and technical aspects of the DTBird system. Additionally, he will present several real examples from wind farms in Europe and North America. These examples show the system’s capability to monitor bird activity, detect collision risk in real time and activate automated mitigation protocols.

Moreover, the talk will highlight how DTBird supports environmental authorities and project developers by providing reliable datasets that help evaluate the performance of wind farms. The presentation will also include updates on product developments, results from recent deployments and the company’s goals for 2023.

This conference is an important forum for sharing knowledge on conservation challenges affecting vultures and other large raptors. Furthermore, it provides an opportunity to discuss risks related to electrocution and collisions, and to explore how technological solutions such as DTBird can help reduce mortality in vulnerable species.

DTBird appreciates VCF’s invitation and looks forward to contributing technically to this international event.
