2 years ago, DTBird participated and won an important Tender destined for the supply, installation, commissioning, and service of bird monitoring and collision reduction systems for a French Offshore project located in the Atlantic Sea. DTBird was selected as a Supplier based on previous experience at FINO1 Offshore Platform and the Kincardine Offshore Wind Farm among other aspects. Ever since then, the moment arrived for the installation of DTBird elements on the selected 3 WTGs temporarily located in the port before they are moved off to sea. The marine model installed comprises 8 daylight and 2 thermal cameras with 10 speakers. Precise engineering and attention to detail were given to propose the location, fixing, and connection of all DTBird elements to the Client and WTG Manufacturer.
This marks the first big marine project in French waters for the company, as such, it has contributed to the growth and development of company areas to meet the Client's standards. The modules and model involved allow for micro-site monitoring around the turbine. It's expected to gather abundant data on the species flying and nesting nearby the Wind Farm, hence it features strong environmental reporting to the local French Authority, the DREAL as well the participation of a third scientific party for the evaluation of the system's performance.
